So these are just some of my favorite quotes by people I admire.  I hope you enjoy! :)

“Wherever you are, be all there.  Live to the hilt every situation you believe to be the will of God.”

~Jim Elliot

“Nobody will listen to you unless they sense that you like them.”  Donald Miller

“Well I know it's gonna to take a lifetime

To answer this prayer I pray

But that's okay

Cause I've given You and him my lifetime anyway.”

Whenever I was upset by something in the papers, Jack always told me to be more tolerant, like a horse flicking away flies in the summer.” –Jackie Kennedy

“I have been through a lot and have suffered a great deal. But I have had lots of happy moments, as well. Every moment one lives is different from the other. The good, the bad, hardship, the joy, the tragedy, love, and happiness are all interwoven into one single, indescribable whole that is called life. You cannot separate the good from the bad. And perhaps there is no need to do so, either.” –Jackie Kennedy

“The first time you marry for love, the second for money, and the third for companionship.”

–Jackie Kennedy

“The question we must answer now is how do we nurture the development of the next generation of women leaders in Africa and worldwide. The answer begins with education. ... Educated children grow up to be adults who have more opportunities to work, to support their families, and to fully participate in the life of their communities.” –Laura Bush

Though I am grateful for the blessings of wealth, it hasn't changed who I am. My feet are still on the ground. I'm just wearing better shoes.

Oprah Winfrey, O Magazine

Every time you state what you want or believe, you're the first to hear it. It's a message to both you and others about what you think is possible. Don't put a ceiling on yourself. –Oprah

I believe the choice to be excellent begins with aligning your thoughts and words with the intention to require more from yourself.  –Oprah

I don't go by the rule book... I lead from the heart, not the head.-Princess Diana

I think the biggest disease the world suffers from in this day and age is the disease of people feeling unloved. I know that I can give love for a minute, for half an hour, for a day, for a month, but I can give. I am very happy to do that, I want to do that.- Princess Diana

Creating a cultural icon out of someone who goes, 'I'm stupid, isn't it cute?' makes me want to throw daggers. I want to say to them, 'My grandma did not fight for what she fought for just so you can start telling women it's fun to be stupid. Saying that to young women, little girls, my daughter? It's not OK'.”

–Reece Witherspoon

You can have financial strength, professional strength, emotional strength but for me without spiritual strength none of the rest of it matters. –Star Jones

" …keep on doing the work and not worry what other people have to say.” -Maria Shriver

"There is more than one way to skin a cat." -Barabara Taylor Bradford and Emma Harte

I went Neighborhood walking for SALT yesterday.  It was our first time this semester.  It is so hard for me to understand how a city with so many congregations and three christian universities can have so much need and poverty.  I mean, the street we walked was litarally just two blocks away from College Drive.  I pass by there almost every other day.  So much need.  There were only about three homes we actually visited with because so many of them were vacant or the people were evicted from them. We heard I think it was 3 gun shots.  It was like stepping into another world.  Later last night I was listening to a Jars of Clay song called Oh My God.  It fits so well with what I saw and felt about that experiance (the lyrics are below).

"Oh my God, look around this place
Your fingers reach around the bone
You set the break and set the tone
Flights of grace, and future falls
In present pain
All fools say, "Oh my God"

Oh my God, Why are we so afraid?
We make it worse when we don't bleed
There is no cure for our disease
Turn a phrase, and rise again
Or fake your death and only tell your closest friend
Oh my God.

Oh my God, can I complain?
You take away my firm belief and graft my soul upon your
grief
Weddings, boats and alibis
All drift away, and a mother cries

Liars and fools; sons and failures
Thieves will always say
Lost and found; ailing wanderers
Healers always say
Whores and angels; men with problems
Leavers always say
Broken hearted; separated
Orphans always say
War creators; racial haters
Preachers always say
Distant fathers; fallen warriors
Givers always say
Pilgrim saints; lonely widows
Users always say
Fearful mothers; watchful doubters
Saviors always say

Sometimes I cannot forgive

And these days, mercy cuts so deep
If the world was how it should be, maybe I could get somesleep
While I lay, I dream we're better,
Scales were gone and faces light
When we wake, we hate our brother
We still move to hurt each other
Sometimes I can close my eyes,
And all the fear that keeps me silent falls below my heavy
breathing,
What makes me so badly bent?
We all have a chance to murder
We all feel the need for wonder
We still want to be reminded that the pain is worth the
thunder

Sometimes when I lose my grip, I wonder what to make of
heaven

All the times I thought to reach up
All the times I had to give

Babies underneath their beds
Hospitals that cannot treat all the wounds that money causes,

All the comforts of cathedrals
All the cries of thirsty children - this is our inheritance
All the rage of watching mothers - this is our greatest
offense

Oh my God

Oh my God

Oh my God"
